We check your current insulation depth, ventilation and any frost or moisture in the attic
Attic insulation upgrades that cut heat loss, even out room temperatures and help stop ice dams
Attic insulation in Ottawa does two jobs. It keeps heat in the house through long winters, and it keeps the roof deck cold so snow does not melt and refreeze into ice dams. Vanity Roofing installs blown-in attic insulation for homeowners across Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley, from city homes in Nepean and Barrhaven out to Almonte and Carleton Place.
Blown-in insulation fills every gap between joists, around wiring and over the top plates where heat escapes, which batts often miss. Because we are roofers, we look at the whole attic, including ventilation, baffles and bathroom fan venting, so the insulation and the roof work together.
Ontario homeowners may also qualify for home energy rebates that help cover the cost of an insulation upgrade.
High heating bills, cold rooms upstairs and big icicles every winter usually point to the attic. A proper insulation upgrade gives you
Insulation works best with good airflow, so we always check your roof ventilation as part of an attic upgrade. Together they keep heat in the house and help prevent ice dams in the winter.
Most of our insulation work is in attics, where it does the most good, and we can also look at other areas of the home where heat is escaping.
We check your current insulation depth, ventilation and any frost or moisture in the attic
We measure the attic and find the gaps, thin spots and air leaks
We recommend the insulation depth and R-value that suits your home and Ottawa's climate
Baffles go in to keep soffit vents open, then insulation is blown in evenly across the attic
We confirm even coverage, clear vents and a clean hatch before we leave
Blown-in insulation is loose-fill material, usually fibreglass or cellulose, blown into the attic with a hose. It settles into every corner, around joists, wiring and vent pipes, and builds a continuous layer with far fewer gaps than batts or rolls.
Many older Ottawa homes have thin or settled insulation from when they were built. Topping it up to current recommended levels for our climate, often R-50 or higher in an attic, makes a real difference to comfort and energy use.
We are roofers first, so we look at insulation the way your roof needs it. A well-insulated attic with poor ventilation can still grow frost and mould, and a well-vented attic with thin insulation still leaks heat. We fix both.
Since 2015 we have completed more than 18,000 roofing and exterior projects across the Ottawa area, and we bring the same care to every attic.
Ontario has offered home energy rebates for insulation upgrades that can cover a large share of the cost for eligible homeowners. Programs and amounts change, so see our home energy rebate page and ask us what is currently available when we give you your estimate.
